Pipal Garden
Passed 2007
Shinji Feng 发表于 2008-02-14 16:11:38
It seemed as I was so busy during the year 2007.
In the past year 2007, I graduated from SYSU and became a biology teacher of No.3 High School of Nanning. It was not an easy job. I taught 4 classes of Senior 2, had 12 lessons per week, and usually had 4 more lessons in Sunday. For it was my first year of teaching, I had to spend more time on preparing lessons. Some students said they felt difficult to study biology, and sometimes felt dull of the lessons. I did feel sorry of their confusion, and I would try hard to develop. However, I need some more time.
Now I'm enjoying my winter vocation, hehe:) I think it might be the most benefit of my occupation that I could have longer time for rest. However, my vocation is coming to an end, so I have to get ready for the coming new spring term.
I don't have much time to blog my life, but I am willing to do it, I think it should be a good way to improve my English.

A Self-introduction
Shinji Feng 发表于 2007-02-14 18:04:14
I was born in Nanning in Sep 11, 1982, nineteen years before the "9.11" event. I am the only child in my family. My parents were both ordinary workers but retired now, they are simple, veridical and optimistic.
My Chinese name is "志勤", given by my grandpa, which means spirit and diligence. "Shinji" is my English name, in fact, it comes from a Japanese cartoon character.
I think I am an introversive boy, however, I'm not pusillanimous. I just like peace more than bustle. I like reading, painting, football and music. I show great interest in biology and psychology, and would like to become a teacher of high school when graduated. During schooling time, I think I could be an outstanding student, but what will happen after that?
Now I am still studying in Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, GD, China to get my master's degree. My speciality is ecology. I am doing researches in the toxic effects of some organic compounds to fishes.
Though I had passed the CET-6, my English is still quite poor, so I am trying to write in English while blogging my life. I also have a blog in Chinese, you can visit the website http://fengzhiqin.yculblog.com to read more about me.
I like to make friends with peoples, so if you do feel interesting, leave me a message. ^_^

The Pipal Garden
Shinji Feng 发表于 2007-02-14 16:58:28
This is the name of my first Chinese blog.
Pipal is also named "banyan", "linden" or "bodhi tree", it means "the tree of Buddha". I choose this name just because my constellation is Virgo, but I'm not a virgin, I'm a boy... hehe ^_^
Yea, I am a fan of the Japanese cartoon "Saint-Seya" and I like Shaka very much. I show an interest in Buddhism, however, I am not a Buddhist.
I just yearn for a simple life, that's the only reason.

Andrew and "1kg More"
Shinji Feng 发表于 2006-11-17 23:01:23
安猪 -- In Chinese this name means a "silence piggy"?!-- Mmmm... So a nice name, hehe :P.
In fact, "安猪" just sounds like his English name "Andrew". Andrew is the initiator of the "1kg More" program, which is a non-official cause of charity crossing over travel. The full name of "1kg More" is "1 kg more in your travel pack". It runs behind the idea of travelers bringing 1kg of inexpensive educational materials in addition to their package to give away to some one that needs it along their journey, e.g. kids that cannot even afford a pencil rubber.
The idea of "1kg More" flied into Andrew's mind in 2004, when he heard a story from one of his friends who had just been back from a journey to Yunnan. His friend went to an obscure village and came across two volunteers of the Western Program, saw the children, teachers and their school, and sighed with emotion. Andrew thought that the travellers could do something to make their journey more memorable, then the embryo of "1kg More" came into being. Passing through the two years' development, Andrew believes that the simple process of passing-communicating-sharing will no doubt enrich travelers’ travel experience and realize the positive cycle of charity work today.
Andrew is really a naive person, and as funny as his nickname. He likes travel and always considers the joy of travel as primary. He also brings his optimism to "1kg More". "No matter what we face, do retain smile."Andrew says. And he expects the members of "1kg More" could enlarge the horizon of the children in the obscure areas.

Dizzying Papers
Shinji Feng 发表于 2006-11-17 11:24:33
During these days, I had to spend at least half a day on searching and reading papers. Oh, God! I feel it so tiring and boring...
I have recently gotten away from the poison-filled-lab, but immediately slumped through the papers. Now what is my daily life like? Get up in the morning, turn on the computer, start to search the papers the PhD asked for, then download them and read... I do feel myself like a bookmarker that can never escape from the mountained papers...
Frankly speaking, reading papers should be very important to a researcher, but to me, it is such an excruciating task.
